Facial Surgery is one of most popular forms of Cosmetic Surgery performed in the UK.
Many people seek some form of facial surgery for a number a reasons, including ageing, excessive sun exposure, lines and wrinkles, accidents, low self esteem or an unbalanced face.
Being unhappy with your face can cause a lot of insecurities and in many circumstance Facial Surgery is the only way to over come those insecurities.
The procedures can be either surgical or non-surgical with varying degrees of cost, surgical time and recovery time.
As the face is the main focal point of person to person interaction, patients have described Facial Surgery as the most rewarding and confidence boosting surgery to have.
There are several types of 'Facial Surgery' available, depending upon your individual requirements :
Also known as Blepharoplasty or, more commonly, Eyelid Surgery. This procedure can correct the premature ageing of eyelids, including the removal of hooded Eyelids or fat bags underneath the eye
Technically known as a rhytidectomy, this is the surgical removal of wrinkles on the face.
This usually involves removing excess skin on the face or neck, and can be effectively combined with eyelid surgery.
Often known as the 'weekend Facelift', this new technique is quicker and requires less recovery time than a normal Facelift.
The surgery involves smaller incisions, concentrated mainly around the neck and folds of the nose.
Also known at the 'Aptos Lift', this surgery is recommended for patients who skin is showing signs of sagging.
The procedure can be done within a couple of hours and, much like a Mini Facelift, involves small incisions, and the insertion of threads.
The Brow or Forehead Lift is a procedure that reduces the frown lines, giving a much younger appearance. With very minimal discomfort and recovery times it is a fairly common procedure.
This procedure, coupled with Canthopexy, will tighten the ligaments and/or muscles around the outer corner of the eyelids, thus preventing or correcting the pulling down of the lower eyelid.
Often referred to as Cheek Augmentation, this surgical procedure is a way of correcting a deficient cheek structure by using a cheek implant.
A Rhinoplasty, or Nose Job, is a very common surgical procedure where the Surgeon will graft a small piece of cartilage or bone to strengthen or alter the shape of the nose. This procedure can be followed up by a Revision Rhinoplasty, if undesirable Rhinoplasty was performed in the first instance.
This procedure is extremely common for patients with a Deviated Septum, where the Surgeon will straighten the nasal septum. This can then be coupled with a Rhinoplasty if nose reshaping is also required.
Mentoplasty or Chin Augmentation is appropriate for those with a prominent nose or other prominent facial features, wishing to create a more proportionate appearance. Chin Implants will be be inserted to create a stronger chin line.
Chin Reduction - this procedure is an effective way of dealing with an overly prominent chin. Taking between 2 - 3 hours to perform, the surgeon will chip at the chin bone to reduce the prominence of the chin line and in many cases create a more aesthetically balanced chin.
Platysmaplasty, as it is technically known, is sought after for patients who have developed sagging skin around the neck. Rather than a Full Facelift, the surgeon will only concentrate on the neck area, making skin tighter and giving a more youthful look for to the patient.
